PIB website has news in regional languages now

IMPHAL, November 24: Press Information Bureau, Imphal Branch Media and Communication officer Premlata Loitongbam said the PIB now uploads news on their website in different regional languages.

Speaking to media persons at her office chamber at Old Lambulane, Imphal today she said the practice of uploading news in regional languages was initiated from November 7 on a trial basis and has been formally launched from today and is available on PIB website www.pib.nic.in/newsite/regional_pm_release.aspx.

She said all photos of PIB, HQ are also made available with captions translated in Manipuri language on www.pib.nic.in/newsite/regional_lang_photo1.aspx.

She further mentioned that the translated press releases are available in Bengali script and in due course of time the scrift will be changed to the Manipuri script.

The NDA government at the Centre under a new initiative has identified 14 scheduled languages of India including Manipuri, Assamese, Dogri, Punjabi, Bengali, Oriya, Gurjarati, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telegu, Malayalam, Konkani, Urdu and directed to translate all the Central government press releases and upload it on the website.
