IMPHAL, November 8: The All Manipur Nupi Marup Wangjing Tentha Area Committee, Tentha Development Committee and Youth for Social Change, Tentha jointly organised the Great October Socialist Revolution at Tentha Multiplex Ground.
The observation witnessed a march past competition and cultural dance performances.
Delivering the key note address, former minister and secretary CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara Singh said the socialist revolution was initiated to balance the economy system of the world.
With the rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer, the society has changed drastically, he observed.
The socialist revolution aims to bring a balanced economy, he said citing Cuba as one exemplary country where a successful socialist revolution was witnessed.
He noted the Great October Socialist Revolution or commonly known as Red October, the October Uprising or the Bolshevik Revolution, was a seizure of state power instrumental in the larger Russian Revolution of 1917.
The great October Socialist Revolution is the greatest revolution in the history of human, Nara observed.
The day is also observed in other parts of the world spreading the message to the youth to fight against corruptions, crime against women to bring a social change, he said.
The Tentha Multiplex Ground will be engraved in the history for initiating the socialist movement in the State with the youths pledging to bring positive social change in the area, he said.
Meanwhile, as part of the event, youths from Wangjing Tentha pledged to launch a movement against corruption, inequalities, atrocities on women and campaign for a social change towards achieving a socialist goal.
General secretary of Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship (ISCUF) K Subha Raju who attended the function as chief guest lauded the march past participants and cultural dance troops who made the observation more meaningful.
He said that the statue of Lenin located at Vijaywada is one among the biggest in the world.
He added that communism and socialism has spread around the world.
Japan has a big hold of communist and Cuba is still fighting capitalist country like USA, he added.
Subha Raju mentioned that ISCUF is in continuous process in developing and promoting cultural heritage of different places to the entire world.
He said that soon programmes like cultural exchange will be conducted where participants from the State can also showcase the rich cultural heritage.
The observance of Great October Socialist Revolution was also attended by Ex MLA Kakching Th Tomba Singh as president of the function.
