IMPHAL, Nov 7: Security forces claimed to have arrested two cadres of KCP (P) and a sympathiser of UNLF during separate counter insurgency operations.
A statement issued by the PRO Police, the KCP cadres have been identified as Laishram Inao Singh alias Loya, 30, son of (L) L Binoy Singh of Phayeng Mamang Leikai and Konjengbam Amar Singh alias Nanao, 30, son of K Joy Singh of Jiribam Golathon Bazar.
They have been arrested by a combine team of Bishnupur Police Commando and 12th Bihar Regiment on Friday from Meitram, it said.
It further said that based on receiving reliable information, the combined team conducted search operation at the area and arrested the two persons.
Investigations revealed that both were involved in extortion of money from general public and business establishments of Imphal area and also involved in threatening the general public by using fire arms and explosives to extort money for party fund, it said.
While a case has been registered at Nambol Police Station and further investigation is going on, added the statement.
Meanwhile, on same day, a combine team of Bishnupur Commando and 6th Assam Rifles rounded up a woman sympathiser of UNLF militant namely Salam Ichan Devi alias Abem, 22 daughter of S Deva of Keibul Forest Mamang from Nganukon area.
The statement said that she was involved in recruiting new cadres and extortion of money from general public and government servants in Bishnupur for party fund and a case has been registered at Moirang Police Station and further investigation is going on.
