IMPHAL, December 14: The BJP today strongly reacted against Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaikhangam’s claim that the BJP was anti-secular.

Reacting to claims of the State Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam that the BJP is an anti-secular party, BJP Manipur general secretary Moirangthem Asnikumar retorted that Gaikhangam speaks like an abnormal person.

Such unfounded and baseless statement coming out of a party president is very unfortunate and we strongly condemned it, he said during a press meet at his office today.

Gaikhangam who doesn’t have a single knowledge of the BJP and its ideology has spoken rather lamely before the media, he said.

This is really irresponsible of a leader of a political party, he lamented.

He further charged Gaikhangam of not doing anything for his constituency Nungba although he has been its elected representative for more than 30 years and had held the post of cabinet minister several times.

Meanwhile, turning his attention towards Gaikhangam’s party, he said the Congress was a social platform for the people and not a political party during India’s independence movement; however, Jawaharlal Nehru changed it into a political party to use it to his advantage.

Since, Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India, Congress had ruled the country, he said.

The Congress, he said has hijacked the Indian independence.

During every election, the Congress wears the mask of secularism to dupe the minorities of India of their votes, he claimed.

But it couldn’t last forever, and the BJP came to power in the Centre, he said.

Congress is now alive in only small states like Manipur, he added.

In Manipur also the downfall of the Congress is near, he added.
