IMPHAL, December 28: A disaster management training programme for police personnel of Imphal East District Headquarter was held at the compound of Porompat Police Station today.
Presided over by Officer of Relief & Disaster Management Department Md Ayub Khan, the programme was attended by IGP (Ops, AP & Trg) S Manglemjao Singh as chief guest.
Around 100 police personnel including women constables led by two Additional Superintendents, Imphal East District Police and VDF jawans were present at the training programme.
Talking to IFP, IGP Manglemjao said that the training programme was held under National Policy with the aim to equip the State forces who are discharging duty round the clock daily with the knowledge of disaster management.
The police officer maintained that the disaster management training programme is being held in phase wise in the District Police Headquarters from last year.
Besides one of the States which falls under earthquake zone, the State of Manipur is also vulnerable to natural calamity which can take place anytime, he said, adding that lives of people and properties may claim in such natural calamities.
