Financial support for football players sought

IMPHAL, December 5: Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation, a special mission sports foundation which is working towards development of sports from the grass root level to international standards, empowering children and youth through sports as a medium of transformation, has sought financial support for its players who will be taking part in the Melbourne Friendship Cup 2015, scheduled to be held from December 12 to 16 at Melbourne, Australia.

Magic Feet, a football project of the foundation for the most underprivileged children and youth in the country has gained global recognition and reputation.

The foundation was invited by the Melbourne Australia to play in the prestigious youth football tournament.

The children and youths of the Magic Feet Club are from the most remote villages of north east India and slums of the city, who have been handpicked and trained professionally to represent the country in football.

The players are being chosen by a special scheme initiated by the Sports Authority of INDIA (SAI) in association with the Indian Army, where the boys are being recruited at the age of 12 years and supported by the Indian army with food /education / sports and skills and on attaining the age of 18 the boys will be recruited in the Indian Army.

It is for the first time in history the Indian Army has associated with Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation.

A contingent of 16 players and 2 coaches will be representing Bangalore City at Melbourne, Australia.

The foundation needs financial assistance for two more players in the team amounting to Rs 3 lakh. One of the boys needs support financially to go for this.
