Lambung celebrates 75 years of Christmas jubilee celebration

CHANDEL, December 26: Lambung village in Chandel district headquarters celebrated platinum jubilee to mark 75 years of Christmas and New Year celebration in the village under the theme “Ebenezer” on December 25.

Executive secretary of Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA) Reverend Kl. Tangthu, who attended the occasion as chief guest unveiled a monument before the jubilee feast in the morning and released a souvenir to commemorate the platinum jubilee celebration later in the main program at noon.

The souvenir unfolded the genesis of the village and church establishment, profile and statistical accounts of the village and its course of development.

Special invitees including Deputy Commissioner Chandel Robert Singh Kshetrimayum and MLA of 41-Chandel constituency St.Victor Nunghlung joined to partake in the jubilee feast hosted by the villagers.

The main highlight of the celebration was the home-coming of all Lambung women married outside the village.

Speaking on the occasion, village chief St Ngamrung said that prior to the jubilee celebration, the Lambung village authority has reconciled to end land dispute with neighbouring village in the spirit of forgiveness.

During the celebration, jubilee choir, Lambung Baptist Youth Fellowship inspired the congregation with special hymns.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the celebration, Pastor of Lambung Baptist Church Reverend Sng John Calvin said that the jubilee celebration was organised to mark 75 years of Christmas and New Year celebration.

MLA 41-Chandel constituency ST. Nunghlung Victor and president of Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) Ws Kanral Anal also attended the celebration besides several leaders of civil organizations and religious leaders.
