IMPHAL, December 8: A one-day State level consultation meet on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) was organized by Mobile Crèches, Delhi along with New Life Foundation, Manipur at Manipur Press Club here today.
Addressing the gathering, secretary of New Life Foundation, L Pishak Singh maintained that the main aim of the consultation meet is to give awareness to the public and anganwadi workers about ECCD to enhance the quality services of ICDS.
He said that the meet solely focused on giving understanding about the new legislation on Early Child Development policy for young children under six years of age and familiarizing problem in services, policies and work programmes.
The early childhood from birth to period of six years is the most critical stage of growth and learning in a person’s life, he said, noting that health and nutritional status of children have a huge influence on their cognitive development and learning potential.
He continued that the ECCD is an approached that focuses on early years in a child’s life and lays the foundation for learning and achievement in school.
The goal of ECCD is to ensure that children reach school age healthy and well nourished, intellectually curious, socially confident and equipped with a solid foundation for lifelong learning, he said.
He added that ECCD also ensured whether the entitled rights of young child are received or not.
During the meet, presentation from Mobile Creches, Delhi on quality services on the topic ECD/ICDS and New legislation on ECD was discussed at length.
