IMPHAL, December 27: One of the two 1st Manipur Rifles personnel who was shot critically by a colleague yesterday while on duty at the Sangaiprou residence of Health and Family Welfare minister Phungzathang Tonsing has been shifted to the ICU of the Shija Hospital and Research Institute today after his condition deteriorated.
The injured MR personnel who is an escort cum house guard personnel of the minister is identified as Pukhrambam Sakhensana Singh, 34, son of P Angouyaima Singh of Nambol Leimapokpam.
Sources said a bullet pierced through the side of his abdomen and that an operation will be conducted once his condition improves.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that Kangujam Babu Singh, 50, son of K Sachimohon Singh of Wanging Heitupokpi who shot the two and fled from the scene along with his rifle has surrendered before the Lamphel PS.
