IMPHAL, December 19: PULF chairman Md Kaji Umar has threatened to take up extreme measures like taking up arms again if the State government continues to remain indifferent to their prolonged demands.
Speaking to media persons today in press meet at the Manipur Press Club, the militant leader revealed that on September 26, 2012 altogether 114 cadres from different Underground Groups operating in the State including 14 cadres of his cadres surrendered their arms before the State Chief Minister, Home minister and Assam Rifles officials at IGAR (South) at Mantri Pukhri under the banner ‘Home Coming’ ceremony to join the mainstream and promote peace.
An official agreement under the ‘Home Coming’ ceremony was also signed between the militants and the government wherein it was mentioned that the government will provide necessary rehabilitation package for the surrendered militants.
In accordance to the rule laid down under the rehabilitation package framed by the Government, screening and verification of the cadres have already been completed, he said.
After the verification the Ggovernment was supposed to pay a stipend of Rs 4000 each for every surrendered cadre besides depositing a one-time payment amounting to Rs 3,50,000 in the accounts of the cadres after completion of three years of surrender however none of the promised amount have been sanctioned to any of the 114 surrendered cadres, he claimed.
Setting asides the money no vocational training have also been conducted for them, he added.
The PULF chairman appealed the authority concerned to clear their dues by January 10, 2016 failing which he threatens to resort to extreme measure against the state Government even to the extent of taking up arms again as ultimate option.
