IMPHAL, December 10: Braving the chilly night, 21 young beauties competed for the Miss Orange Queen 2015 at the Tamenglong Lower ground on the night of December 9.
Vania Chawang, daughter of Atam of Tamenglong clinched the title.
The first runners-up title was bagged by contestant no. 12 Soiraisam Devjani, daughter of Gopal of Uripok Sorbon Thingel and the title of second runners-up title went to Sylvia Kamson, daughter of Stephen of Dimapur.
Of the 21 contestants, 10 were selected of which only five made it to the final round, however, following a complaint from one of the judges that more deserving and eligible contestants were left in the final selection, all the ten previously selected contestants were called on the stage and made to answer one common question.
The top three were selected from among the ten.
The title winner, first runners-up and second runners-up went home richer by Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively besides the title holder gettingan opportunity to participate in the Miss Femina India to be held next year.
This year Miss Orange Queen Vania Chawang donated Rs 20,000 to the organising committee of the festival to encourage the orange growers.
Various sub-titles were announced with Vania adjudged the Miss Talented, contestant no.17 Toijam Jayatek adjudged Miss Besutiful Skin, contestant no.18 Gaichoreiliu Pamei adjudged Miss Beautiful Eyes, contestant no 6 Deeksha Bachaspatimayum adjudged Miss Beautiful Hair, contestan no.16 Sangita Thiyam walking home with the Miss Beautiful Catwalk, contestan no. 20 Nameirakpam Manjulika adjudged the Miss Photogenic, contestant no.12 Soraisam Devajani Miss adjudged the Miss Congeniality and contestant no. 21 Epeiwangle Pamei walking home with the Miss Beautiful Smile.
The sub-title holders were also awarded Rs 20 thousand each.
