IMPHAL, December 19: The All Manipur VDF Welfare Association (AMVDFWA) has urged the State government to sanction the Rs 1000 increment in their honorarium which has been approved by a cabinet decision with effect from from October 2015.
Speaking to the media during a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, the president of the association, L Deban Singh, appealed to the State government to discuss the matter during the ongoing Assembly session to materialise the cabinet decision.
Urging to include 13th month pay for all VDF personnel starting from January 2016, like every regular forces have been enjoying, Deban maintained that they shall not report for duty during holidays if the government fails to do so.
Further highlighting other grievances, he said that since 2010 the VDF have not been issued with new uniforms adding that they had struggled especially during winters due to lack pf jackets (Uniform) to keep them warm.
He continued that the government also promised to honour any VDF personnel killed in the line of duty to constable rank yet this too remained just a hollow promise.
According to him on April 2015 the association submitted reports of two VDF personnel who were killed during duty but the government has remained non responsive till date.
Drawing the attention of the government, he appealed to the concerned leaders to look into the matter during the ongoing Assembly session and address the legitimate demands.
Meanwhile, the association is going to celebrate the 8th VDF Foundation Day which falls on March 6, 2016 in grand way at Bishnupur District adding that the Chief Minister of the State, Deputy Chief Minister and DGP will be invited in the celebration, said the VDF association president.
