IMPHAL, January 16: A book titled ‘Mother, where’s my country? – Looking for light in the darkness of Manipur’ written by Anubha Bhonsle was today released at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The book had already been released in Delhi and it was launched at Imphal today in the presence of JNU Professor Akoijam Bimol, local activist Babloo Loitongbam, IFP editor Pradip Phanjoubam, social worker Nandini Thokchom and author of the book Anubha Bhonsle.
Sharing her experience, Anubha Bhonsle said she came to Manipur in 2006.
“It took me nine years to complete the book”, said Bhonsle adding that the book was an attempt to try to understand Manipur from outside Manipur, and to make people outside Manipur understand Manipur.
She said this book is only the beginnnign and there is more to dig and find out about this becautiful and complex state of Manipur , she continued.
The book is enclosed with 15 chapters published by Speaking Tiger Publishing Pvt Ltd., New Delhi.
Bhonsle is currently an editor with the CNN IBN. She is receipient of many awards in journalism for her extensive reports on politics, gender, human rights, and other impacts of long standing conflict.
She had in the past received the Fulbright Humphrey fellowship 2015, The Chameli Devi Award 2014, The Ramnath Goenka Award 2012 and Jefferson fellowship 2008.
