KANGPOKPI, January 9: Civil society organizations of Sadar Hills today strongly condemned dumping of dead body in different areas of Sadar Hills for the last many years and the recent similar incident at Keithelmanbi village.
Speaking to media persons this evening at Kangpokpi, Seikhomang Khongsai, convener of CSOs Sadar Hills said that many incident of dumping unidentified dead bodies had been witnessed since the past many years in different places in Sadar Hills and no one claimed hands in most of the incidents.
He pointed out that recently an unidentified dead body of a male was dumped again in the eastern paddy field of Keithelmanbi Ward No 7 under Kangpokpi Police Station, which was found later on January 4 afternoon.
Police sources suspected the deceased might have been beaten to death by some unknown persons somewhere and later abandoned him at the spot, he said. The convener asked the concerned groups and individuals involved in the incident to come out openly with their genuine identities and reasons behind the act committed at Keithelmanbi village.
“The land of Sadar Hills is not a disposal land for dead body”, fumed Seikhomang Khongsai, cautioning that the Sadar Hills CSOs will resort to take up intense agitation if such unlawful and inhumane activities take place in the areas in future.
The CSOs Sadar Hills appreciated the boldness of Keithelmanbi Village Authority against such condemnable incident in their areas, he said.
He also appealed to security forces to avoid unnecessary harassment to the villagers instead implement effective measures to trace identity and nab culprits involved in the incident.
