IMPHAL, January 4: The 6.8 magnitude earthquake which occurred at 4:35 a.m. on Monday, January 4 with its epicentre at Tamenglong district at a depth of 17 km below the ground have killed at least 6 and injured 69 persons in Imphal.
A girl was killed in a building collapse at Tamenglong district, while another person died at Taobungkhok village in Imphal West district, and moreover during the earthquake, a Grandmother and granddaughter were killed while sleeping and also killed a 19 years old girl from a Nepali family at Leimakhong.
Damage to a few buildings, residential units and Government offices have been reported, including damage to a six storey building in Imphal, according to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Several building in Imphal, including the market complex, roads and bridges developed cracks while walls of some school buildings have collapsed.
