IMPHAL, January 12: The recent earthquake has silenced the Congress from bragging about all its achievement in the past 14 years of its rule, BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba said today.
He was speaking at the 26th foundation day celebration of Social Welfare Club Ishok Maning Leikai today.
The recent earthquake, Chaoba said is the first sign of the Congress’ downfall in the State and it has exposed all the corruptions of the ministers and the MLAs.
The damages suffered by the Ima Keithel which is only five years old is a simple example of the failure of the Congress, its MLAs and ministers, he added.
He continued if the people don’t want to see such things again, they should support the BJP.
Continuing to attack the Congress, Chaoba lamented that his own constituency has continued to support the Congress for the last 15 years. There has been no development in the constituency, although it was a model constituency during his time as the local MLA, Chaoba added.
He said he had provided tap water, blacktopped the roads and had taken up several developmental works in the constituency.
Under the present MLA, the constituency has only degraded, he claimed adding that the Nambol Lairen Higher Secondary School has been degraded to a High School and not the Nambol Health Centre is being reduced to the level of the Primary Health Centre.
He further claimed that the Ishok Road is not properly constructed and that the thickness and the width of the road are not according to the norms. He said he will soon bring officials of the PMGSY to the area to inspect the road.
Chaoba further expressed hope to see a BJP government in the State after the 2017 election.
The BJP needs more participation from the youth to eradicate corruption from the State, he added.
He further appealed to the people to choose their representatives well.
In the function Social worker Robert, Yuva Morcha Vice-presidents Y Gopi, Dr Antas Khan and K Bikram were also present.
