IMPHAL, January 16: Expressing gratitude to the government authorities, NGOs, various organisations, agencies, groups and individuals for timely response in terms of relief materials, money and concerns to the January 4 disastrous earthquake victims of the epicenter Kabui Khullen (Luanjang) part-I, Luangchum Circle Development Committee (LCDC) appealed to the government to expedite the immediate shifting and evacuation works of the whole village having 55 households and a population of about 400 to the safe location.
In press release the LCDC stated that experts visited there have warned that the village could slide down at the strike of a mild earthquake or heavy rains, some of the poor villagers have started shifting to a temporary safe site which is 5km away from their original village. No positive response is coming from State chief minister, deputy chief minister, Union Home Ministry and Government of India in spite submitting several serious appealed to provide financial assistance and materials for immediate setting up of shelters, tents at the safe sites.
