IMPHAL, Jan 25: Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan has wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2016.
The message of the Governor reads “My best wishes and warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Republic Day, 2016.”
“India declared itself a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic under its own Constitution on the 26th January, 1950 and this day is celebrated every year in the country as Republic Day.”
The Governor’s message continued “Since then, the nation has been progressing rapidly in all spheres of development under the guiding principles of the Constitution and it is a thriving democracy today, earning the respect of the world.”
“Successive elections have shown the maturity of our people while the ballot embodies their aspirations. The country with its tremendous youth potential backed by modern science and technology is gradually gaining recognition as a world power.”
Manipur with its youth population full of dynamism is also marching forward as equal partners with other States in the nation building, the message said.
On this occasion, let us not forget our founding forefathers who had the sagacity and foresight of dreaming about a modern India and let us pay them a richly deserved homage and rededicate values enshrined in the Constitution for the progress and prosperity of the country, the message said.
