JNIMS report counters Maoists’ allegations

IMPHAL, January 7: The JNIMS authority has today refuting the allegations levelled against the institute by a UG organisation came out with a detail report clarifying its status.

A press meet was held today in this regard at the JNIMS campus, attended by Prof Y Mohen, who is in-charge of handling the revenue of the hospital, Prof N Jitendra, who is an executive member of the JNIMS teachers’ association and P Landhoni, Nursing Superintendent of the hospital, representing the entire faculty members of the institute.

They said the JNIMS employees are unhappy with the allegations levelled against the hospital that it is filled with corruption and nepotism, reducing the hospital to a mere hospital without any responsible officials who can look after the hospital and its patients carefully.

The JNIMS authority would welcome any constructive advice for the betterment of the hospital from any section of the society, said the Doctors and added that they are ready to rectify any unintentional mistake committed by them.

A press hand out was also distributed to the media persons present at the conference mentioning the detail about the achievements and their records of various departments of the hospital.

According to the handout, recently one dialysis unit has been installed at the hospital since December 11, 2015 and treatment has been done for free of cost till December 18, 2015.

JNIMS Hospital campus has been fully illuminated by solar lamp throughout the night.

It clarified that the promotion of Doctors was truly base on merit and seniority basis and there is no chance for nepotism.

It also clarified that the Director is not the authority for issuing work order for civil works of the Hospital/Institute adding that revenue collection from the hospital from September 2015 is approximately rupees one lakh per day.

Giving the details on performance report of JNIMS Hospital during the period of January 1 to November, 2015, It claimed that a total of 2,51,329 OPD patients were treated at the hospital during the year while the number of inpatients treated is 6410 male and 12343 female.

It elaborated that the number of patients treated at ATC/Casualty Dept is 46640, the number of operations performed in total is 25506 in which 22585 are minor operations and 5921 are major operations. Number of deliveries at the hospital is recorded is 2583 normal cases and 2403 LSCS.

In the Radiology department, number of X-Rays taken is recorded 17142, number of USG 16057 and number of CT-scan 2598, it said adding that the number of ECG taken during the period is recorded 8919 while the Number of physiotherapy treatment done is recorded 5732.

The number of lab investigations done in the hospital is recorded as 24059 in Microbiology, 134035 in Biochemistry, and 147222 in Pathology.

It further mentioned that they collected 5773 units of blood and at the same time issued 5638 from the blood bank of the institute.

The Forensic Department report includes 231 post-mortem examinations and 95 medical legal cases.

The total number of Hospital beds is 588, number of ICU is 109 and the number of ICCU is 104, it informed.

They also informed that PG courses in Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology are already open at the institute and now the institute is aiming to open PG courses in Surgery, Medicine, OPS & Gyne and Anaesthesia within this year.

The press conference was also attended by the JNIMS Director Prof Deven Singh, other senior doctors, staffs, nurses and students of the institute.
