IMPHAL, January 19: President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba has alleged a Session Judge of forcibly taking signature of Sonia, daughter of Tombi Devi who contested in the recently held local body election from BJP’s ticket.

Speaking exclusively to this daily, Chaoba claimed that the Session Judge accompanied by police came to JNIMS Hospital where Sonia is undergoing treatment, to take signature of her forcibly in connection with a post-poll violence.

The party president said he and his team visited Bishnupur Police Station today to ascertain whether Congress minister Govindas Konthoujam is directly involved in assaulting Tombi Devi or not.

He further said that the team then visited JNIMS Hospital to inspect the condition of Sonia who was admitted to the hospital due to head injuries suffered after she was allegedly kicked by the minister.

Reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement that he doesn’t think minister Govindas can assault women, Chaoba claimed that the minister was present at Bishnupur Police Station where he allegedly assaulted Tombi Devi.

If the CM thought that minister Govindas did not assault the BJP candidate then police should be held responsible for beating a person inside the police station, he said.

The question is who assaulted and tortured Tombi inside the police station, he asked.

The minister assaulted a lady by kicking and throwing slang language and she was arrested at his behest. Sonia was referred to JNIMS from Bishnupur District Hospital due to head injuries, Chaoba contended.

It is very unfortunate that Bishnupur Police have not registered an FIR or suo moto case despite complaint lodged from the victim side. This is a clear indication that police and judiciary in the State run under the government, he said.

Saying that Tombi’s son Dipak was admitted to Bishnupur District Hospital today due to internal bleeding which he suffered inside the police station, Chaoba charged CM Ibobi and his Council of ministers with gross violation of fundamental rights.
