KPC cadre arrested: Police

IMPHAL, January 12: The Imphal East district police commando reportedly arrested two active member of KCP (Noyon) faction on January 9 from Soibam Leikai area, Imphal East district.

A statement issued by the PRO Manipur Police, stated that the militant cadres were arrested during search operation.

They have been identified as Yengkokpam Ranja Singh alias Amuba, 46, son of Y Gokul Singh of Top Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Romesh Singh alias Inaocha, 39, son of Ksh. Bihari Singh of Kongpal Naoroibam Leikai.

Investigation has revealed that Romesh was also working for KYKL and involved in extortion of money fom SK Oil nominees of Imphal East and West, it said.

While a case has been registered at Porompat police station, investigation is said to be going on.

Meanwhile, the released further said that a team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border police station, Manipur along with NCB, 29 AR and Chandel district police destroyed illicit poppy cultivation spread over in 102 acres of land in Chandel district from January 4 to 10.

Five cases have been registered at NAB police station in this regards and investigation is going on, it said.

Meanwhile, according to a PRO Defence press release, troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion of Senapati Brigade under aegis of Red Shield Division apprehended one active cadre of KUFO in an operation carried out on January 10.

The cadre who was apprehended from Bongmol, Senapati district is identified as Houpu Dimnsgel, 29 son of Paomang Dimngel of Motbung village, Senapati district.

He was apprehended along with one point 22 Revolver (Thailand made), one 9mm Pistol, three live rounds of point 22 Revolver and six live rounds of 9mm Pistol.

The arrested cadre was reportedly involved in nefarious activities. He was handed over to Police, said the release.
