IMPHAL, January 15: Along with inaugurating a three-day long 49th foundation day celebration of Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching, a year-long golden jubilee celebration of the organization commenced today at its premises at Kakching Chumnangpatta.
The inaugural function was attended by Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Laipubam Upendro Sharma as chief guest; renowned drama playwright Naorem Kalimohon Singh who is also former member of Sahitya Akademi Manipuri Language Board as guest of honour and president of Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching Yengkhom Dhananjay Singh as president.
Speaking on the occasion, secretary of Sahitya Seva Samiti Yengkhom Nillachandra highlighted performance and achievement of the literary organization since its inception.
He also released yearly journal of the organization titled ‘Chumthang’.
During the function, awardee of Dr Khoirom Tomchou Memorial Gold Medal 2015 given by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Bishnupur and Leithanthem Ram Singh Memorial Sahitya Award 2015 by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal Naorem Romina Devi and Dr Ambedkar National Award 2015 awardee Nongmaithem Jashumati Devi were felicitated.
Raghubir Thiyam from Yairipok Laimanai was honoured with the Chinkhu Moirang Leima Memorial Kabirdas Award 2016 for his book of poetry ‘Laireibakki Paodam’.
The award donated by family of Kengba Yengkhom from Kakching Turel Wangma carries a cash reward of Rs 10000, shawl and citation.
The Yendrembam Surlata Award 2016 presented by family of Yendrembam ongbi Taboppi was conferred to Dr Kshetrimayum ongbi Pramodini Devi from Kakching Bazar Khunyai Leikai for her novel ‘Mathou Shanglaba Yot’.
The award carries a cash reward of Rs 10000, shawl and citation.
Dr Sanabam Thaninleima from Wangkhei Pukhrambam Leirak was presented with the Yambem Mani Sahitya Award 2016 for her book of drama ‘Rickshaw amashung Nongmei’.
The award donated by family of Yambem Satya Singh carries a cash reward of Rs 10000, shawl and citation.
As part of the programme, a poetry recitation was held with Sahitya Akademi and State Literature awardee Birendrajit Naorem presiding over it.
