IMPHAL, Jan 31: Lieutenant General Konsam HimalaySingh,a native of Thoubal presently posted as commandant Infantry School, Mhow(MP) has been conferred UttamYudhSena Medal for his distinguished service as General Officer Commanding of 16 Corps in J&K, according to a PRO (defence) statement said.
UttamYudhSeva Medal (UYSM) is one of India’s military decorations for wartime distinguished service. It is awarded for a high degree of distinguished services in an operational context. “Operational context” includes times of war, conflict, or hostilities, it said.
The General has held varied command, staff and instructional appointments. He has vast operational experience in Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K where he served five tenures in the last 35 years and four tenures in North East, it said.
