IMPHAL, January 20: The grand finale of the Manipur Dance Meet 2016, presented by Nachom ACM in association with ARDAC the SAYON which commenced on January 10, will be held at the at MSFDS on January 22, informed contemporary dancer Surjit Nongmeikapam during a press meet at Manipur Press Club today.
He said the aim of organizing this competition is to develop different forms of dances.
He said modern dance form is not popular in the State and there is less performances of modern dance.
The competition has given a platform for the dancers of various forms in the State to showcase their talents, he said.
They will also be given a platform to showcase their talents to outside the State, he added.
Apart from the competition, an awareness workshop was conducted at Yumpham Studio, Koirou Thongju Part II on January 19 and 20 by Virino Critinal of Nagaland.
He said Virino will also be a jury member of the grand finale.
The point of inviting dance crew member from Nagaland by Nachom ACM is to strengthen the brotherhood relationship between these two states, he added.
Speaking at the conference, Virino said that the people of Manipur especially the youth are very talented in the field of arts and have a lot of potential, despite the fact that there is less appreciation of dancers and lack of proper emphasis in modern dancing.
She said she is looking forward to the youth of the State coming up in the dancing world.
The grand finale will see Cypher Freeze (Nagaland); Pumpkin Crew; Kakching Ardac; Carmel Jyoti Children; ARDAC The Sayon and Lamhui Ensemble competing.
