IMPHAL, January 10: The JAC of Marangching has called an indefinite general strike in the village against any works related to the NF Railway against the failure of the authorities to re-conduct the survey from Panglen Panthok to Kou Panthok for construction of rail line on the hills of Marangching Village in Tamenglong district, said the JAC’s secretary Gankhonlung.

He said the JAC will continue with their demand for re-survey of the land from Panglen Panthok to Kou Panthok at the earliest, revoking of the FIR registered against 40 villagers of Marangching and withdrawal of the 144 CrPC in the village, although the government has failed to act positively on any of the demands.

He further said that until and unless demands are not meet the agitation will continue in and within the Marangching area said Gankhonlung.
