NHM targets to fully immunized State by 2020

IMPHAL, January 7: With the target to fully immunized the state by 2020 under the Mission Indradhanush, the last round of the 2nd Phase of the immunization campaign was kicked off today by O Ibomcha Singh, Director-National Health Mission at his office chamber at Lamphel.

Speaking to media persons during the launched event, he said that all four rounds of 1st phase have been completed in July 2015 and phase 2 of the campaign had begun from Oct 7, 2015 adding that the last round of the phase II was concentrated to the district of Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Chandel having 897 immunization locations at different places of the districts.

He continued that altogether 299 ANM and 900 ASHA workers were engaged for the immunization that could achieve 67%, 71% and 73% in the last three rounds of 2nd Phase.

The Director further revealed that the fourth round which commenced today is concentrated at Chandel district including Molcham, New Somtal, Yangoulen and Khengjoi villages of the district and added that the medical team has to cross neighbouring country Burma to reach.

Having acquired require clearance from both the countries the team was flagged off with 11 medical staffs on board. For the purpose the department has already acquired two special vehicles (bullet) for the first time in the state, asserted Director Ibomcha.

To tackle nine kinds of diseases to the children below 2 years of age and pregnant women, he appealed to all to take advantage of the campaign.

NHM targets to immunized 11785 infants and 5892 pregnant women during the campaign.

Nodal Officer of the Immunization campaign Dr Th Nandakishore added that by 2020, NHM will able to achieve more than 90% immunization and said that immunization process will continue targeting those who left the phases.
