PDA not involved in Ima Market construction: Chairman

IMPHAL, January 7: The Planning and Development Authority (PDA) has today clarified that it was never involved in the construction of the Ima Market as alleged by the CSO and women organisation.

Speaking to media persons in this regards at his office chamber located near 2nd MR gate today, the PDA T Mangibabu Singh said that the department is not at all responsible with the construction of three Ima Keithel.

The recent tremor measuring 6.8 magnitude in Richter scale has rocked the state affecting two out of three newly constructed Ima Keithel damaged for which PDA was wrongly charged, he asserted.

T Mangibabu further said that the state Government is working out to compensate the damages incurred by the recent earth quake and appealed to all concern to extend support to each other rather playing blame game.

He said natural calamities are beyond the ability of human control and helping each other is the need of the hour.

The PDA chairman pointed out that the market places constructed by the authority under central Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns (IDSMT) scheme are Lamlong keithel, Kongba keithel, Bishnupur Market, Ningthoukhong Market and Nambol Market; two markets namely Lamlong and Kongba market place was affected and their assessment to be submitted to the Government for necessary action.
