IMPHAL, January 2: Aimed at making faster delivery of Speed Post articles in the State, Manipur Postal Department has started delivery of Speed Post articles by putting seven motor bikes on the road from today, said Vinod Kumar, Director (Posts) Manipur while sending postmen staff on bikes by giving them departmental caps.
A release issued by Superintendent of Pos, Manipur Postal Division said it’s like a New Year gift for the postmen staff as well as to the esteemed members of public as they will get their speed post articles in prompt manner.
Vinod Kumar asserted that the use of motorbikes will surely make the delivery much faster and said that he number of motorbikes would be increased if department feels more demand for it.
He further said that the Manipur Postal Division worked really hard to provide these bikes by the New Year since November last year.
Ng Arunkumar, Public Relation Inspector, Imphal said that the performance of postmen will be judged by number of articles delivered by them.
L. Tiken singh ASP Manipur informed that on an average more than 800 articles are being received for delivery in Imphal Head Post Office.
Presently the seven bikes cover the postal delivery beats of Checkon Soibam Leikai, Wangkhei, Sangaiprou, Keishampat, Deulaland Dingku Road, Khongman and Uripok, he further informed, adding that the use of motorbikes in delivering articles was started some years ago however this is the first time that so many motor bikes have been put to use.
Kumar also mentioned that it is essential to change from the traditional bicycles to bikes as life moves at a very fast pace nowadays.
He briefed the postmen on bikes the importance of prompt delivery of the mails and how the delivery of articles faster could make a difference in the lives of the recipients.
