CCpur, January 4: The denizen of Churachandpur districts were forced out from them homesteads in wee hour today as the 6.8 magnitude in richter scale also jolted the district.
Fortunately no fatality and major collapse of building and infrastructures was not reported apart from the caving of YPA’s Roof at New Lamka and the collapse of a waiting Shed near Khiangzang village. There was also reports of cracks appeared in many buildings in New Bazaar of the district head quarter.
Panic continues to grip the district with rumours of another possible aftershock doing the round.
Against this backdrop, the Assam Rifle and Army deployed in the district are doing the round to meet any eventualities.
Moreover, since early in the morning AR batalion deployed in HQ veng have been sending out columns to assess the damage and for rescue operations reaching out to all localities. Other columns were also have been dispatched to assess the damage all across the Churachandpur including far flung places like Chengpi and Henkot village, where there are reports of damage.
With the quake the strongest that the district had ever witnessed the District administration had hard time mitigating rumours of Khuga Dam collapsing.
