State lad attempts to set Guinness record

IMPHAL, January 17: Elangbam Tulu Singh, a 36 year old Painter from Uripok Khoisnam Leikai has attempted to set a record in the guinness book of world record, in micro painting using food grain as his canvas.

Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today, Tulu said that his first oil painting of Mahatma Gandhi on paddy measuring 8mm in length will be submitted for Guinness Book of world record.

He said that he has also painted fishing scene at the Loktak Lake on a grain of rice which measured only 5mm in length. He said that he has successfully painted the faces of prominent leader like Mahatam Gandhi, Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, on paddy grains before stating that his next task will be painting on yellow split pea (mangan kangtak).

With the split pea as the canvas, he revealed that he is set to paint the iconic image of Mona lisa, Indira Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Teresa, Taj Mahal and Barak Obama.

All his micro paintings were displayed before the media at press club today. Tulu further expressed that he will continue his micro paintings and will master in this field. He said he uses needle and customise brush and with the help of a magnifying glass he started his paintings which he said he can paint two paintings with magnifying glass in a day.
