IMPHAL, January 17: In yet another instance of aggravating crime in the State, an unidentified person attempted to assassinate general secretary of Tamil Sangam, Moreh by firing a bullet shot in front of his residence at Morning Bazar Road, Moreh Ward No 4 on January 16 night around 9.50.

Luckily, the general secretary of TSM identified as KB Subramaniam, 42 son of Late Kanupaiya missed the life attempt just by a whisker.

According to reports, KB Subramaniam was returning home from a function held at Kundo Lairembi Shanglen when an unknown person with face covered suddenly turned up and fired a gun shot from close range in front of his residential gate.

After the bullet shot misfired, the general secretary daringly hit the attacker’s gun with a tiffin carrier which he brought home. This resulted in a commotion between them.

After a while, the assailant fled the area. In the brief scuffle, KB Subramaniam suffered injuries but he is said to be out of danger, the reports said.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident after the general secretary lodged a complaint.

However, there is no news of arrest of the assailant till the time of filing this report.
