Two NSCN (K) cadres arrested

IMPHAL, January 15: Troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion under Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division apprehended two hardcore insurgents of NSCN (K) in an operation carried out at Daili village, Senapati district on January 12.

According to a release of PRO IGAR (South), the operation was conducted based on specific inputs regarding movement of hardcore insurgents in Kangpokpi, Kanglatongbi, Saparmaina, IT Road Junction, Sipijang and Leikop.

The insurgents were identified as number 17326 SS Lt Lamang Kipgen, 36 son of Seipao Kipgen resident of Lilen village, Peren district in Nagaland and Seminlal Kipgen, 23 son of Jangsat Kipgen of Langjol, Senapati district.

They were apprehended along with one 9mm Pistol and five live rounds of 9mm.

On questioning, SS Lt Lamang Kipgen revealed that he is a top leader of the terrorist outfit NSCN (K) and had joined in the year 1996. He accepted of being trained in Athibung in the second batch and has been involved in recruiting numerous cadres for the terrorist outfit in the past, it said.

He revealed that he had recruited Seminlal Kipgen two months back who is presently performing the duties of his body guard. He further confessed of absconding from Nagaland to avoid arrest by security forces and arrive in Manipur to carry out recruitment for the terrorist organisation.

He also confessed that he was planning to strike against security forces. The apprehended terrorists along with recoveries were handed over to police for further investigations, the release stated.
