IMPHAL, January 21: Yaiskul Assembly Constituency despite its proximity to the main city of Imphal continue to be bogged down by various issues, said former general election candidate of the constituency Thokchom Satyabrata.
Speaking at the 3rd Foundation Day celelbration of the Working Committee for Thokchom Satyabrata 14/Yaiskul today at the YSU ground Yaiskul Bheigyabati Leikai, he said Yaishkul has produced a Chief Minister of two terms and many ministers in the past, but continues to reel under severe growth deficit.
We need the public support to change all these, he added.
He claimed there are still no proper distribution of PDS items and sufficient potable water in the constituency and misuse of housing schemes by the elected leaders.
In a democracy, people’s representatives are elected for the welfare and development of the public but unfortunately in the constituency they seem to be against the people, he alleged.
Our society still faces many hurdles and the issue of unemployment in one major hurdle, he said. Although the constituency has many artisans of crafts and handloom they are unable to grow due to lack of financial assistance.
He further sought ideas and support from the people to bring a change in the constituency.
