IMPHAL, January 27: We have, somehow, managed to clear some of the backlog of LPG supply for the registered consumers, although it is yet to be fully cleared, RBD Gas Agency proprietor Gurumayum RObindro Sharma said today.
He was speaking at a LPG Safety Clinic organised by the Imphal Sales Area, Silchar Area Office at the LPG distribution site of the gas agency located at Kongman, Imphal East.
He maintained that adequate security is still needed for safety of the trucks bringing in LPG from Guwahati.
Frequent bandhs and blockades of the highways are also affecting the transportation, he added.
At the same time, the agencies have to supply some LPG cylinders to VIPS and police personnel, he added.
All these combine to affect proper supply of LPG to the consumers, he asserted.
Regarding criticism of gas agencies in the local media, he said allegations are only pointed against the agencies.
He said the media reports should be unbiased and cover all the shady dealings happening.
Urging the LPG users to be on the safe side, Robindro urged the people to be aware against the use of duplicate spare parts of the gas cylinders and stoves.
IOCL assistant manager N Kasung said there have been reports of misfortunes even deaths due to negligence or mishandling of LPG.
He said it is easy to use LPG but it is always advisable for the people to use the LPG cylinders and gas stoves properly and safely and avoid accidents.
The programme was also attended by VP in charge Oriental Club B Manglemjao Sharma and proprietor Athokpam Indane Service Okram Budhi Singh.
After brief speeches from the presidium members, proprietor Rbd G Robindro Sharma conducted live demonstration on safe use of LPG especially for domestics.
