IMPHAL, February 19: The Government In Council Approved Ad-hoc Primary Teachers’ Association (GICAAPTA) has demanded the State government to regularise their post before recruiting any new teachers and if the concerned authority fails to translate the demand, strong form of agitations will be launched, said spokesperson of the association S Arun.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Arun said that recently the State cabinet has approval for the recruitment of 2000 new teachers in the education department.

Such decisions are welcomed by the ad hoc primary teachers but the government has to understand the plight of the Ad-hoc teachers who are suffering for the past more than 15 years before new recruiting the teachers, he said.

Arun told that over 71 Ad-hoc primary teachers were recruited by the government since 1997 to 1999. The government extended their contract service till 2010. The government did not extend their service nor regularise their post but the teachers has been working without wages since 2010 last, he added.
