Arrested BJP candidate of Ningthoukhong MC released on bail

IMPHAL, Feb 9: BJP candidate in the recent Municipal Council election from Ningthoukhong MC Ward no 1 Angom Tombi Devi who was arrested along with her son and two daughters by Bishnupur Police for alleged involvement in a post-poll confrontation between workers of the Congress and the BJP on January 17 were released on bail today.

Tombi’s children are identified as Dipak Singh, 29, A Aruna Devi, 26 and Sonia Devi, 21.

It may be mentioned that Dipak was allegedly slapped twice by Commerce & Industries minister Govindas Konthoujam inside Bishnupur Police Station.

The Chief Judicial magistrate/ Bishnupur rewarded bail to the four who were under judicial custody.

Tombi and her two daughters were released from the Manipur Central Jail Imphal whereas Dipak was released from Sajiwa Central jail this afternoon.

Following their release, the four were warmly received by BJP workers and people of Ningthoukhong Ward No 1.
