IMPHAL, February 4: The BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba demanded that CM should produce a white paper on the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for the last 10 years in the State.
Rejecting the Chief Minister’s claim yesterday that the BJP led NDA was blocking UPA introduced schemes, Chaoba asserted that it was only the State government’s inability to implement the schemes properly according to the guidelines prescribed.
Chaoba also demanded a white paper from the government on the implementation of MGNREGS in the State.
Speaking to media persons at his party office, he claimed that the MGNREGS implementation in the State is a total flop-show.
He said the Ibobi government has failed to even provide 50 days of work to the job card holders in the State. The State has failed to even contribute its 10 percent share of the scheme, he continued.
The State managed to get awards on implementation of central schemes only by manipulating the data, Chaoba alleged.
He further accused the Ibobi government of misappropriating huge funds sanctioned by the Centre.
The State government is also providing room for the minister, MLAs and its officials to siphon off the fund, he charged.
The BJP led NDA government has not released funds due to the failure of the State authorities to furnish utilisation certificates of the earlier funds, he claimed.
There is no reason for the Centre to block funds, he said.
He continued Union Ministers have been visiting the North Eastern States including Manipur not as tourists but to monitor progress of the Central sponsored schemes implemented in the States.
BJP Manipur general secretary (Administration) M Asnikumar Singh who was also present at the press conference also lambasted Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam charging him of talking too much without even knowing the funding pattern of the Central government.
He said that the people as well as the State government should be fully aware that the NDA government has been sanctioning funds for development of the road connectivity in the State ever since it came to power.
Asnikumar claimed that the Union Minister of Road and Surface Transportation Nitin Gadkari of upgrading the 116 km long NH 150 Imphal-Aizwal into a four lane for which a DPR has been prepared.
He continued the Union Ministry is also surveying the two-lane Imphal-Mao-Khoizuma highway stretch to fill up the sinking portions.
Following appeals from the BJP Manipur, the ministry has also earmarked Rs 40 crores for the 18 km long Pallel to Chandel road, Rs 1150 crores for the 40 km long Tamenglong to Khongsang Road and Rs 1600 crores for the 115 km long Ukhrul via Toloi to Tadubi road, he said.
The Centre has also sanctioned the construction of the 116 km long Maram-Perel road, 150 km long Haflong-Tamenglong via Lia-sang Tousem, 90 km long Sanghat-Nampisa (Bharat Mala prop), 114 km long Ukhrul-Jessami and the 105 km long Jiribam-Tipaimukh, he said adding that the DPR of the road upgradations will be completed soon.
The Modi government also aims to interlink all the State capitals of the North East States by two or four lane roads and to BJP Manipur general secretary (Media) L Basanta Sharma was also present at the press conference.
