CHURACHANDPUR, February 10: The Ccpur district health mission under the National Health Mission (NHM) inaugurated the National Deworming Day today at the Vimala Raina High School.
CMO Thangchinkhup Guite inaugurated the function in the presence of medical superintendent Churachandpur District Hospital, ZEO, ICDO, DFWO and teachers of the high school led by their headmaster.
Speaking on the occasion, the CMO said the government observed the day on February 10 with the aim of freeing every child between the age of 1 to 9 years from worms.
He said according to a WHO report, 64 percent of children in the age group are affected.
He continued constructive steps like the observation of the day will bring about development in the health sector.
Those present in the function demonstrated the norms to administer the deworming medicine on the children present.
Parents were told to administer only half of the tablet provided.
The deputy commissioner of the district who is also the chairman of the District Health Mission was unable to attend the inaugural function due to some emergency.
The function at the congested hall of the high school witness the administering of deworming medicines to students of both private and government schools of the district.
