IMPHAL, February 4: A consumer awareness programme was organised jointly by Civil Supply and Public Distribution, Guwahati the Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal and NSS unit of Thoubal College under the aegis of the Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Consumer Affairs at Thoubal College today.
A press release issued by District Youth Coordinator, NYK Thoubal stated that the awareness programme was attended by Sahib Singh, Zonal Director NYKS Imphal and Dr Chaoba Devi, Principal Thoubal College as chief guest and president respectively.
It further said that Dr KC Santra, Scientist âFâ, BIS, Guwahati, who participated as resource person, talked about the needs to purchase only ISI mark commodities to ensure quality and price by using Power Point Presentation. The four-day Swachh Bharat Mission conducted by Thoubal College also concluded at the college, it added.
Dr O. Chaoba Devi pointed out the importance of participating in the cleanliness campaign. Sahib Singh, Zonal Director, NYKS administered Swachh Bharat Mission pledge to all the students, youth and teaching staff of the college, the release said.
In his keynote address Y Laksman Singh, DYC clearly pointed out the significance of developing the spirit of volunteerism among the youths. The DYC also emphasised on the role of NYK youths and NSS students in organising mass awareness on consumer affairs and educating the people on the flagship programmes of the government, the release stressed.
