IMPHAL, February 20: Based on credible information, a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commando and 7 AR arrested five members of a gang and seized cache of arms at Phougakchao Ikhai Lai Mamang along NH-150 ON February 19 around 6 pm.
Police reports identified the arrested gang members as Vungzamuan Samte, 54 son of Late S Khupzathong Zou of V Munhoih, New Lamka in Churachandpur; Lam Chin Samte, 33 son of S Thangnou Paite of Gangpimualkoi, ex-cadre of KNF (MC); Don Lam Ching Zou, 38 wife of Jamchinthang Zou of Hiangzou; Chindeiching Zou, 55 wife of Khupkhanlian Zou of Hiangzou and Lunniang Paite, 32 wife of Lamching Paite of Tangnoum.
Two MA-3 MII rifles, two magazines, one mobile phone and one diesel auto bearing registration number MN 02A 8986 were seized from their possession.
A case under FIR No 18 (2) 16 Mrg PS u/s 400/34 IPC & 25 (1-C) Arms Act has been registered following the arrest and seizure of the arms.
The arrested persons were members of a gang, who were assigned to deliver the weapons to different underground organizations, the reports said.
