IMPHAL, Feb 15: Tekcham Gopal Foundation for Arts and Culture, TG COmplex, Sagolmang, Imphal East has launched a week long “5th Manipuri Folk Dance Festival” on February 15 at the premises of TG Complex, Sagolmang.
A statement signed by its president BC Tekcham said that the festival was inaugurated by ex deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly L Lata Singh as chief guest, TG FOAC president BC Tekcham as president and cultural activist K Tomchou Meitei as guest of honour.
It said the festival is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, New Delhi under the cultural Function Grant Scheme with the aim of enhancing and preserving the folklore value and indeginous culture of the hills and the valley people of Manipur especially in folk dance.
The programme will continue will February 21, it said adding that 10 cultural troupes from both the hill and valley districts are participating.
