IMPHAL, February 9: Recalling that late former Union Minister and Chief Minister of the State RK Jaichandra Singh was a renowned statesman who strictly adhered to his principles, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called upon the people to follow the ideologies and footsteps adopted by the late minister to contribute towards development of the State.
He was speaking at the 75th birth anniversary of late former minister observed by RK Jaichandra Singh Memorial Trust at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda ground, Imphal West today.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, CM Ibobi asserted that there is no limit to development and said that trying to materialize the dreams and aspirations of the late political leader for the State will be the fittest tribute to the deceased.
He said that adherence to words, discipline and sacrifice for the society, which every responsible political leader should possess were the hallmarks of RK Jaichandra who was the seventh Chief minister of the State.
During the tenure of RK Jaichandra as the CM of the State, there was no differentiation amongst the ruling and opposition parties. He treated all the people of the valley and hills equally, Ibobi said.
The CM led in offering floral tributes to the photo of the political leader.
Deputy Chief minister Gaikhangam who presided over the observance function acknowledged the distinctive leadership qualities possessed by the late Chief minister.
People of the State owe much to RK Jaichandra who relentlessly worked for betterment of the society, he said.
The Dy CM also said that demise of the political leader is a big loss to the people of both the valley and hills.
During the function, CM Ibobi released a video CD based on the life history of RK Jaichandra.
MP Dr T Meinya; Ministers I Hemochandra, AK Mirabai, Ngamthang Haokip; Parliamentary Secretaries and several MLAs were also present at the occasion.
