CHURACHANDPUR, February 16: A major accident occurred near Chullouphai Village junction. Eight passengers including four school students of a diesel auto escaped unhurt miraculously.
The passenger auto bearing regd no MN 01Z 5330 was plying from Balam Veng to Chaparang. Four passengers including the driver were injured and have been admitted at the Churachandpur District Hospital.
The injured have been identified as the driver Zangkhopau, 68, Kimneihkhol, 40 of Monglenphai, Nemzavah, 48 of Kaprang and Letkholal, 34, of Najaang Village, Henglep sub-division.
Nemzavah was injured in her tongue and arms. Considering the damage of the vehicle, the casualty was surprisingly minimal.
The accident occurred near a road curve at ST Chullouphai Village.
Many opined that the accident was due to the speeding of the auto, while others opined that the aged driver might have lost control due to his medication.
Two of the injured were brought to the hospital in an unconscious state and are now recuperating at the hospital. All four are still at the hospital under proper observation.
The accident occurred around 1:30pm, fortunately, the ADC Churachandpur’s ambulance which was coming back from Imphal swiftly brought the injured persons to the district hospital, and otherwise it could have been a different story.
The autos’ association, TUDASA, chairman Palam has also expressed the association’s thankfulness to the help rendered by the ADCC ambulance.
