IMPHAL, February 9: Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today released three books namely ‘Ngasi Natte, Houjikni’, a short drama by Lanbon Rangmai, ‘The Philosophy of Contemporary World Religion’ by Angam Zatung Chiru and ‘Miringpan’, a Tangkhul short story written by Ayung Raikhe at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The function was organised by the Hill People Literary Union Manipur, Imphal.
Gaikhangam speaking as the chief guest said that there is a lot of space for writers from the different communities of the State to bring out their books.
He further deplored the habit of the people of the State of being disunited, and urged the literary bodies of the State to unite.
Even though we are in the digital world, books and documents are still of importance, he said.
He continued the the digital form can be infected by virus.
He said it is not necessary for one to be a scholar to be good writers.
There are several good writers who were not good in their studies. There are also many individuals who were not good in their studies have become philosophers, writers and poets, he added.
Gaikhangam also lauded lanbon Rangmei for writing in the Manipuri script although he was a tribal himself.
Rangmei is also the president of the HPLU.
He said he hope to see such endeavors in the future also.
President Manipur Sahitya Parisad Thoidingjam Tombi and HPLU president Lanbon Rangmei were also present as president and guest of honour of the book release function.
