MPHAL, February 24: The proscribed Kuki People Liberation Front/Army (KPLF/KPLA) has called a 48-hour State-wide bandh with effect from February 27 midnight against the alleged corruption involving IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and Chief Engineer of the department by taking advantage of an e-tender (Open Tender).
The outfit in a statement said medical and water supply will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
It said Department of Investigation of the outfit had issued statement in local dailies on February 21, condemning the Minister and Chief Engineer for the alleged corruption.
The Minister procured Ductile Iron (DI) pipe at Rs 36.325 per metre against the market price Rs 24.688, swindling an amount of Rs 19 crore, the outfit claimed, adding that it wants to furnish the alleged corruption before the Central government and public.
It cautioned that anyone who defies the bandh call should bear sole responsibility for any untoward incidents occur during the course of the bandh.
