KANGPOKPI, February 25: Kuki Students’ Organization, Twilang Block, Sadar Hills today draws the on time attention of Manipur state Government over the delay bridge construction work on Irang river between Irang Part-II and Tujang Waichong in Twilang area, Sadar Hills.
Vehemently decrying the sudden clogged up of the bridge construction work, Enock Kipgen, President, KSO-Twilang Block lamented that it is the only Bridge connecting Irang Part-II, a conglomerate of 20 villages with Tujang Waichong, which is the marketing and educational hub of the area.
He continued that a great ray of hope for the entire villages and especially the student community had flower when the construction work of the bridge began last year in April since it serves as the key connectivity and the only lifeline of the people living in the area.
However, due to reasons best known to them the construction work was suddenly clogged up rendering the entire populace twitchy and worries for the monsoon season, Enock added.
He also said that more than 350 students across Irang Part-II have been reportedly pursuing their high school studies at Tujang Waichong School by with myriad difficulties in crossing the Irang river through the temporary bridge constructed over it.
He further said that many farmers are trading at Tujang Waichong as their livelihood source and if the only bridge exists in such a decaying condition it will distress the economic standard and education of the area drastically.
Expressing deep dismay over the delay construction work Enock Kipgen underline the importance of the bridges in the communication network particularly in a place like Twilang area presenting geographical diversity and difficult terrains.
“Please don’t pay no heed to our humble plea considering the plights and suffering of the Irang people particularly the innocent student community”, Enock plead the state Government and the concern department while urging to speed up the construction work so as to bring a contented smile to the people before the monsoon season set in.
