IMPHAL, February 15: The Leimakhong Area Development Committee today alleged that quality has not been maintained in the ongoing blacktopping of the eight km road stretch from Leimakhong to Konsa Khul under the funding of the PMGSY Phase XI.
Local Autonomous District Council member Dama Vaiphei today conducted an inspection of the road blacktopping accompanied by the committee chairman Jangchon and secretary Amson.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the inspection trip, Amson said that after a long time the area is witnessing the blacktopping of a road.
But, unfortunately considering the quality of the work done, it is guaranteed that the black topping will be washed away in the coming monsoon, itself, he added.
If the authorities concerned are unable to maintain the work quality, it is better for them to stop the work now, he said.
“Maintain quality of stop the work immediately,” he warned.
The blacktopping should be one inch thick and 10 feet wide, however, the thickness is not even half and at many stretches the width is less than 10 feet, he said.
Dama Vaiphei also warned the officials and contractors for not maintaining the work quality and if they failed to maintain quality from today then he will take action against any official with help of higher authority.
The ADC member further said that the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had taken up many project for the development of the hills but due to negligence of the concern authority it cannot be taken properly and in time.
