IMPHAL, February 4: The second Officer-in Charge of the Nambol police station, has allegedly assaulted a civilian inside the police station today.
The victim has been identified as one Leithangbam Ranjan from Bamdiyar Chingmang.
Speaking to media persons at the Manipur press club during a press meet held today the victim has said that he was reportedly assaulted by the 2nd OC for inquiring about an FIR at his office.
Ranjan elaborated that on February 2nd, his younger brother Leithangbam Joy left some rat repellent (poison) by their paddy godown at their resident. He said that unfortunately a dog owned by their neighbour Leithangbam Tolngou @ Sanatom aged about 50 has eaten the poison resulting to the death of the dog.
Ranjan further said that the next day, his younger brother was arrested by the personnel of Nambol Police and took him away in the afternoon.
When he came to know of the incident, he rushed to Nambol Police Station to inquire about the report from concern authority. There he met with the 2nd OC of the station and when he started enquiring about the report the 2nd OC without any reason started physically assaulted him and received injuries. Ranjan who is now being treated at RIMS appealed to concern authority to take action against 2nd OC of Nambol Police Station for his inhuman attitude towards a civilian.
