IMPHAL, Feb 19: Women’s security and safety is severely threatened in the society today where women are continuously targeted and crime committed against them is on the rise, said a statement of the Naga Women’s Union.
It said women have no security everywhere whether at home, in the markets, learning institutions, offices and so on, it said denouncing the crimes against women and strongly condemning the rape of a six year old minor girl at Chinikol on February 14 and presently undergoing treatment and stated to be in a serious condition.
It said all these unfortunate happenings are attacking the very fabric of our society.
We appeal to every sensible person to denounce it and cooperate in rooting out social evils and urge law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment to the culprits as per the law of the land and deliver justice to the victim, it continued.
