KANGPOKPI, February 18: Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen today visited assaulted victims of Panikhetti village at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital and provided financial help to the victims.
The local MLA was accompanied by Irang Part-II MDC Bhumi Prasad Basnet along with various Gorkha CSOs leaders.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen expressed her discontentment over the brutal assault of Panikhetti village chairman Nar Bahadur Adhikari, his wife Kamala Adhikari including three of their daughters and another neighbour on February 13 by four youths of Tapon Naga village reportedly for accepting emergency meeting circular of KNF.
While condemning the assault, the local MLA said that discriminating behavior should be practically eschewed among the different communities in the society which could burst into unsolicited environment and disturbed the peaceful coexistence.
“What is the intention of the culprits in assaulting innocent villagers of Panikhetti over accepting the meeting circular?” asked Nemcha while adding that it’s time we shun discriminatory attitude and struggle to live in peace and harmony.
“Assaulting woman is against the law and an insolence towards the women welfare” she said.
The MLA also appeals every community leaders of Irang Part-II to impart healthy way of living together and serene coexistence in the areas while urging them to avoid such intolerable manner in future.
Meanwhile, the Kuki National Front (KNF) has also registered a strong condemnation over the alleged assault of Panikhetti chairman and his family by four youths of Tapon Naga.
A press communiqué signed by the outfit information and Publicity Secretary LH. Stephen while condemning the assault said that the meeting circular of the outfit has nothing to do with the village chairman and his family while Tapon Naga villagers have no right to impede in “our affairs.”
While strongly decrying the alleged menacing intention of the Tapon villagers over various recent issues in Kuki dominated areas and political affairs, it said that, they
